Barack Obama’s ice cream parlor, racial profiling statement has made Baskin-Robbins the safest place for an illegal to hang out. After Barry’s Carvel comment, no self-respecting police officer would approach a reasonably suspicious person eating a frosty dessert.
A good tip for gang members, drug runners and all sorts of illegals is to aim for ice cream amnesty. If suspected, just slide into an ice cream shop, like its home plate, and you’re safe.
This advice might even help the suspected member of the Somalia-based Al Shabaab terrorist group that Homeland Security has asked Texas authorities to be on the lookout for. Apparently, the federal government believes a Somali terrorist may be trying to enter the United States through Mexico.
The DHS alert was issued to police and sheriff’s deputies in Houston, asking them to keep their eyes open for a Somali man named Mohamed Ali who is believed to be in Mexico preparing to make the illegal crossing into Texas.
The whole situation presents a quandary for the feds because being on the lookout for a person from Somalia obviously involves a measure of racial profiling. Clearly, President Obama would oppose such a “misdirected” exercise.
The Somali suspect DHS is actively looking for is accused of running a “large-scale smuggling” enterprise. In fact, the potential racial profiling victim is allegedly responsible for sneaking “hundreds of Somalis from Brazil through South American and eventually across the Mexican border.”
Sneaking across the border isn’t that big a deal if all hardworking, ex-Somali pirates want to do are “jobs Americans won’t do,” or to taste some of the outstanding ice cream Obama is constantly hawking.
Federal officials believe, “Many of the illegal immigrants, who court records say were given fake IDs, are alleged to have ties to other now-defunct Somalian terror organizations that have merged with active organizations like Al Shabaab, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami.”
Experts also say the DHS alert and recent court case highlights the threat of terrorists penetrating the Mexican/Texas border – and the growing threat of Somali recruitment efforts to bring Americans of Somali descent back to Somalia for jihadist training, creating homegrown terrorists.
While it’s bigoted to racially profile, labeling an individual a terrorist because he or she is from Somalia, is worse. Just ask John Brennan, Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism.
Speaking at NYU , Brennan clarified the Jihad issue for misguided Americans saying, “Jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose.” Guess Brennan never read the Koran, which calls for “fighting and slaying” in the name of Jihad.
In recent years, American Somalis have been recruited by Al Shabaab to travel to Somalia, where they are often radicalized by more extremist or operational anti-American terror groups, which Al Shabaab supports. The recruiters coming through the Mexican border are the ones who could be the most dangerous, according to law enforcement officials.
Regardless, it just doesn’t seem fair to racially profile a whole people group, just because a few members of Al Shabaab have made it a “priority to impose Sharia Law… on Somalia [and] have aligned … with Al Qaeda in its intent to harm the United States.”
So, if Somali terrorist, Mohamed Ali is still on the loose and innocent Somali day workers successfully make it across the border from Mexico into Texas, in order to avoid being caught and deported, America’s newest residents should just start to eat lots and lots of ice cream.
