Illegal and Driving Drunk Not a Threat? – American Thinker. – August 4, 2010

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, although always on high alert for pro-lifers, ex-military and right wingers, apparently is less concerned about murders, beheadings, fatal car accidents, and other assorted attacks on personal safety inflicted on Americans by illegal immigrants.

Take for instance the squatter residing illegally in Virginia who killed a nun in Prince William County while drunk driving.  A very thirsty Carlos Montano, who hangs around bars, not ice cream parlors, was soused and without a driver’s license when he took the life of Sister Denise Moiser.

Sister Mosier died and two other Benedictine nuns were severely injured on the way to a retreat because Carlos careened into their vehicle, killing one and sending the other two to the critical care unit.

Carlos Montano , a county resident, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and drunken driving. Mr. Montano had been arrested two other times on drunken-driving charges, and on at least one of those occasions county police reported him to federal authorities. We have determined that he is in the country illegally. He has been arrested by Prince William County Police in the past, said police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

According to Perok, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is the largest investigative agency in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, “was notified at the time of one of those arrests.” At the time of the fatal car crash, Montano “was in the deportation process and was out on his recognizance for court proceedings.”

Few would argue that Sister Denise was victimized, not only by involuntary manslaughter inflicted by Montano, but also by the incompetency of Obama administration policies. Rather than being protected by the federal government, the innocent are sitting ducks for an administration that puts the rights of illegal interlopers above the safety of American citizens.

Fatally injuring one nun and critically injuring the other two, Carlos was then “treated for injuries he received in the crash” on the taxpayers’ dime.  After which menace-to-society-Montano was released into police custody.

The Montano/Mosier incident cost an innocent woman her life and “raises questions about the [DHS’s] policy of detaining only some illegal immigrants awaiting deportation.”

Harold Rogers (R-Ky) said,

I have been saying for months now that this administration’s new policy of concentrating almost solely on ‘criminal aliens,’ and not enforcing the laws by deporting known illegal aliens, would have devastating consequences. Now, we see the tragic results this ‘virtual amnesty’ policy of the Obama administration has caused. A life could have been saved had ICE just simply done their job to begin with. By implementing selective amnesty one case at a time, the U.S. government is literally putting lives at risk.

Yeah, but at least the driving-drunk-without-a-license/potential-Obama-voter Carlos wasn’t unfairly harassed by racial profilers in an ice cream parlor, and isn’t that all that really matters?

Statistics show that [ICE] has stepped up deportations of criminals, but has slowed deportation of other illegal immigrants. The agency also is holding fewer illegal immigrants at any one time than it did last year.”

Sister Denise Mosier died because a repeat DUI offender/illegal immigrant was not deported or held in custody and instead was out taking a leisurely morning drive at the exact same time three Benedictine Sisters were traveling to a cloistered location to pray.

Why was Sister Mosier killed by the inebriated Carlos? Because according to the Obama standard, illegal immigrants without licenses who drive while intoxicated do not rise to the threat level category of “aliens who otherwise pose a serious risk to public safety” and  right-wing extremists.
