House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) is a modern-day version of the charlatans Jesus was referring to when He said, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside is full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”
Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi prides herself on being a devout follower of Catholicism, but don’t let that fancy lace mantilla fool you. Apparently, to senior citizen/former Catholic schoolgirl Nancy Pelosi, church doctrine is similar to sagging skin; if it gets in the way, she trims it off and tosses it aside.
One time, when speaking about how the health care law impacts abortion, Nancy said, “[Those who disagree] may not like the language, but the truth is what I said. I’m a devout Catholic and I honor my faith and love it. . .but they have this conscience thing [that puts women at risk.]”
Resplendent in her rosary bead-inspired signature $20,000 – $80,000 Tahitian pearls at a recent press conference and “knowing more about having babies than the pope,” Nancy was asked by a Catholic how she feels, as a Catholic, about the government issuing a regulation that virtually forces “Catholic individuals and institutions to act against their conscience.”
Visibly annoyed, Nancy Pelosi responded by saying, “Is this a speech or do we have a question disguised as speech?” Too bad Nancy wasn’t asked a more entertaining question, like “are you really a fashionable middle-aged woman or just an elderly grandmother disguised as a fashionable middle-aged woman?”
Referring to the government’s overreach into religious sensibility, the anonymous questioner informed the former speaker that “We cannot and will not comply with this law” – a law that “[w]ill require all healthcare plans to cover sterilization and all FDA-approved contraceptives including those that induce abortions.” This will force “Catholic individuals and institutions to act against their conscience.”
The unidentified voice pressed the visibly peeved Pelosi further with the challenge, “Will you stand with your fellow Catholics in opposing this law?” Translation: Nancy, are you going to behave like a Catholic, or remain a loyal deaconess lovingly attending the votives at the Saline, Scalpel and Suction Shrine located on the left side of the First Church of Liberalism?
With a knuckle to the nose to brush away an annoyed sniffle, Ms. Pelosi, who has professed a “deep love for the Catholic Church” (just not its tenets), looking a tad uncomfortable, refused to make eye contact with the questioner.
Knowing full well that church leaders and parishioners are appalled at such an assault on religious freedom, Nancy, who is in so much denial she likely still hasn’t applied for AARP and has her Botox provider on speed dial, responded in an ecumenical, all-inclusive way by saying “I’m going to stand with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this.” Huh?!
Cave just this once, Grandma, and put on those reading glasses – Catholics are outraged!
Sounding like a confused dementia patient, after saying that Catholics who don’t support sterilization, birth control, and abortion would support the mandate that enforces all three, without identifying who “they” are Pelosi said, “I think it was a very courageous decision that they made and I support it.”
So there you have it; Nancy Pelosi defines courage as the federal government’s brave decision to dominate religious institutions, and in so doing, in defiance of dogma, conscience, and God Himself, has issued a command to pro-life Christians to genuflect before the god of female reproductive rights.
Not only is Ms. Pelosi supportive of such “courageous” edicts, she has decided to “stand.” However, her standing will not be with Catholics: “House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) vowed today that she will join with the Obama administration in standing up against the Catholic church in defending a new regulation that will require Catholic individuals to buy, and Catholic institutions to provide, health insurance plans that cover sterilizations and artificial contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.”
It appears that Barack Obama and proud catechist Nancy Pelosi have chosen the Catholic Church for their pilot study in government infringement upon the First Amendment right to free exercise of religion; to hell with Church teaching, to hell with personal principles, to hell with the notion of right and wrong, and most importantly, to hell with the document that defends all our rights, the United States Constitution.
And to prove how committed she is to the cause, staunch Catholic Nancy Pelosi is willing to take up pew space at Saints Peter and Paul Church in San Francisco and defiantly continue to receive communion while courageously supporting a government edict that sanctions murder.
